Didier Ya Konan missed his specially organised individual training session on Tuesday, which has caused a great deal of confusion with those higher up in the club. The Ivorian striker spontaneously decided to visit a specialist doctor in Augsburg for further investigations into his ongoing knee problems. Unfortunately, he failed to inform anyone at the club that he was planning to do so.

Knee still causing problems

Manager Mirko Slomka had spoken with Didier Ya Konan and the medical staff as recently as Monday to assess the situation. It was agreed during this meeting that “Didi” would undergo a specialist training routine to help rehabilitate his knee. However, the 96-centre forward decided to travel to southern Germany to seek out a second opinion, but seems to have neglected to let anyone involved know that that was the case. “Of course every player has the right to choose their own doctor”, explained his irritated manager, but the player should at least been transparent with his plans. “The implications for this weekend’s match against St. Pauli can’t yet be determined”, stated Slomka who is still waiting to find out the details concerning this breakdown in communication.
