Hannover 96 managed to win their second test match in their Austrian summer training camp. Roughly 400 supporters witnessed the 4-0 victory over Czech Republic side Banik Ostrau. On target for the Reds were Konstantin Rausch (12’), Moritz Stoppelkamp (70’), Deniz Aycicek (82’) and Lars Stindl (88’).

Longest first half ever

What does a Volkswagen Beetle have in common with Moritz Stoppelkamp? They just keep on running and running. The only difference is that “Stoppel” scores goals in the process as well. The 96-striker netted his 26th pre-season goal against Banik Ostrau and thus helped his team secure a well deserved 4-0 test match victory. Right from the start the Reds were showing no signs of slipping up against the top flight team from the Czech Republic. Konstantin Rausch was on target in the 12th minute with a powerful and precise shot into the lower corner. The Bundesliga outfit dominated the first half but failed to add further goals to their lead. The weather played quite a big part in this match as well, as heavy downfalls forced both teams to abandon the pitch on two occasions, making the first half last a total of 65 minutes - the longest 1st half ever in Hannovers club history.

Heavy rainfall caused for two lengthy intermissions in the first half

Three goals in second half

The second half kicked off in similar fashion as the first began, with the Reds continuing to put lots of pressure on their opponents. Nevertheless, it took the “goal-scoring-machine” Moritz Stoppelkamp 25 minutes before he doubled the lead. Goals by Deniz Aycicek to make it 3-0 (82’) and Lars Stindl (88’), who fired home a free kick to set the final scoreline at 4-0. Coach Slomka seemed satisfied with his teams performance after the match: “I’m happy with the performance. We defended well and rarely allowed our opponents to a real chance.” Next test match opponent will be Hapoel Tel Aviv on Sunday in Bad Radkersburg. Surely they will have heard of Moritz Stoppelkamp by now.
