96 striker Jiri Stajner will still be plying his trade at Hannover next season. On Monday the Czech player signed a one year extension to his current deal, with an option for a further year.

Hochstätter: "A fan-favourite and an important player"

Just after signing the new deal, the 31 year old told the press, “I’m pleased to have signed a new contract, meaning I can continue to play my part in Hannover 96’s development.” Director of football Christian Hochstätter was equally happy, “In the last few weeks Jiri Stajner has shown that he’s an important player for 96, and obviously we’re pleased to be able to keep a fan-favourite like him at Hannover.” Jiri Stajner joined Hannover 96 in July 2002, scoring 25 goals in 164 Bundesliga games. “Twinkle-toes” is regarded as a cult-figure at the Reds and has been in great form of late.
