The sun was shining again in Bückeburg at the somewhat late kick-off time of 18:45 (CEST) as 96 played their first friendly match after the end of the Bundesliga season. The first chance fell to the hosts VfL. The Oberliga side went forward straight from kick-off and narrowly missed. The Reds took control of the game after that though and Jan Schlaudraff was the first player to get on the scoresheet with a direct free kick. After a slightly quiet 15 minutes, Lars Stindl doubled Hannover’s advantage on 22 minutes. It was then 'Prib time' after half an hour as Edgar Prib made it 3-0. Stindl added a fourth goal shortly before the break to complete his brace.

More goals and a consolation goal

96-manager Tayfun Korkut introduced ten players in the second half in front of 1,860 spectators. The picture remained the same. 96 had the game under their control. Substitute Leonardo Bittencourt occupied an unusual role on the left wing – and with great success. He found the net with a beautiful lob in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0. A few minutes later, U23 player Sebastien Ernst increased the lead to 6-0. On-loan Artjoms Rudnevs scored a lovely goal to make it 7-0 shortly before the hour mark. The hosts had chances again 15 minutes before the end and were putting pressure on the 96-goal. Their consolation strike was imminent, and it eventually came just ten minutes before the end. Tobias Versick made it 7-1 and gave the VfL fans something to celebrate. And that was the way it stayed.

Second-half line-up:
Fuhry - Rajtoral, Hoffmann, Felipe, Teichgräber - Schmiedebach, Bittencourt, Ernst, Krottke, Dierßen - Sulejmani

Three friendly matches remaining

Things continue on Thursday. The Reds will play against a selection of players from the area of Grafschaft Bad Bentheim in Eintracht-Stadion in Nordhorn. They will travel to Hildesheim on Friday to play SV Bavenstadt and finally visit their neighbours in Garbsen, where Korkut’s men will encounter Regionalliga outfit TSV Havelse.
