Sobiech fires Poland to win
Hannover 96 striker Artur Sobiech was the hero for Poland yesterday as his late winner sealed a 1-0 friendly win over Latvia.
Poland, who will co-host the coming UEFA European Championships with Ukraine, faced Latvia in Klagenfurt in Austria. After stalemate for nearly an hour, Sobiech was introduced, and the 21-year-old made the difference by scoring the winning in goal 82nd minute. Poland coach Franciszek Smuda is yet to name his definitive 23-man squad for the tournament, but Sobiech will be hoping that he has done enough to be involved when the Euros begin on June 8th.
