NIEMALSALLEIN

Robert Enke was finally back in a Germany shirt this weekend after his injury-enforced absence. In Germany's qualification match against Liechtenstein the 96 keeper produced a flawless display to keep a clean sheet.

Enke solid in German goal

Robert Enke didn't have too much to do on Saturday. Apart from a couple of catches and the odd free-kick or goal-kick he could easily have taken a book with him to pass the time against Liechenstein. He will certainly have more to do in the Welsh capital Cardiff on Wednesday, but we are equally confident he will be able to make it two clean sheets on the trot.

Lala loses against Huszti
Altin Lala was handed the captain's armband on his comeback for the Albanian national side. Unfortunately his side went down to a 1-0 defeat against Hungary, who had ex-96 player Szabolcs Huszti among their ranks.

Elsewhere Mikael Forssell and his Finland team-mates faced Wales, Germany's opponents on Wednesday. The Scandinavians showed Löw's side how to get a win in Britain, coming away with a 2-0 victory and three priceless away points. "Miklu" played until the 90th minute, when he was substituted.

Krzynówek loses with Poland
One of January's new-signings, Jacek Krzynówek, played a full match for Poland away to Northern Ireland, but unfortunately couldn't prevent them going down to a 3-2 defeat.

Leon Andreasen, the other newcomer in the winter break, played a part in Denmark's 3-0 win in Malta, coming on in the 63rd minute.

"Chak" Yankov played no part in Bulgaria's 1-1 against Ireland in Dublin.

"Flo" and "Rosi" involved in debacle
Germany's under 21s hosted the Netherland's 'B' side. However Horst Hrubesch's team had a torrid time of it, finding themselves 4-0 down at the break. Jan Rosenthal couldn't improve the scoreline when he came on in the 63rd minute, although he and Florian Fromlowitz, who came on in the 74th minute, at least didn't concede any more and the Germans lost the match 4-0.

"Kocka" Rausch had a far better time of it with the under 19s against their Finnish counterparts. Our young left-back contributed to an excellent team performance that saw the Germans run out 7-0 victors.

Lukas Zekas, 96's youth team striker, scored for the Lithuanian under 21s, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to stop his team losing 4-1 against Belarus.

Ferhat Bikmaz also played a half for the Turkish under 21s as they beat Denmark under 21s 2-0.
