Hannover suffered a defeat in their first friendly match since the end of the season, losing 3-1 to fourth division side FSV Hollenbach. Konastantin Rausch scored the Reds’ equaliser in front of 800 spectators in Gerabronn.

 

Only Rausch scores, Haggui picks up cut

Hannover 96 suffered a surprising defeat in the first of two friendly matches following the close of the 2012/13 Bundesliga campaign. FSV Hollenbach were 3-1 winners in front of 800 spectators in Gerabronn, home of 96’s equipment supplier Jako. The fourth division side were able to celebrate a historic win in light of their 150-year anniversary.

In the 24th minute, the departing Konstantin Rausch cancelled out Hollenbach’s early opener from Kleinschrodt after a lovely pass from Stindl. The second half belonged to the underdogs though with goals from Schenk and Müller around the hour mark putting the game beyond Hannover’s reach. Karim Haggui was removed after just 20 minutes after picking up a cut to his forehead.

Off to Meuselwitz

Before the players begin their well-earned holidays, they have another game on the agenda. A match against ZFC Meuselwitz in the bluechip-Arena at 18.00 CET on Tuesday awaits them.
