In the second round of the German Cup, Hannover 96 have drawn an away tie against FC Bayern Munich. This was revealed on Saturday evening, and the game will take place on either Tuesday (24th) or Wednesday (25th), September 2013.
Outsider role for 96
"Extremely difficult - we are clearly the outsiders in this game. Bayern are the measure of all things, both domestically and internationally," said 96-sporting director Dirk Dufner.
"Two visits to Bayern within ten days - that is going to be demanding. We are playing against them on the 14th of September in the Bundesliga. The challenge is huge but we take that on with confidence and will aim to make the best of the situation," explained 96-manager Mirko Slomka.

Hannover 96 was established on 12th April 1896. In its long history, rich in tradition, the greatest successes have always come when the special bond between club and city, and between the club and its fans, was at its strongest. Because of that we have the club motto “NIEMALS ALLEIN” [‘Never Alone’]. The most glorious moments in the club’s history include winning the German championship in 1938 and 1954, as well as the Cup success of 1992. In their early days, 96 established themselves firmly in the Bundesliga. The stand out memories for the fans in recent years include the two seasons in the Europa league in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2015/16 Hannover will compete in the Bundesliga for the 14th consecutive season.
