International success: All of 96's players won points during the international break. Leon Andreasen and Leonardo Bittencourt were also goalscorers.

Andreasen scores the opener

A tailor-made comeback was exactly what Leon Andreasen had when he represented Denmark on the weekend. In their World Cup qualifying game in Malta, Leon put his country ahead after only two minutes. Denmark went on to win the game 2-1 and this win means that Morten Olsen’s side have nine points in Group B, a total which keeps them in touch with rivals Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Armenia. Denmark are battling these three teams for the second spot in the group and on Tuesday, Denmark face Armenia in a direct battle for the coveted place.

Bittencourt brought on and scores

96’s new signing Leonardo Bittencourt played the super-sub role for Germany U21’s against the Faroe Islands in Toshavn. In the 61st minute, Bittencourt replaced Gladbach’s Amin Younes and, ten minutes before the end of the game, scored the third and final goal. Germany’s first team – a squad that includes 96-goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler – also won 3-0, beating Austria in Munich. On Monday night, the U21 side face Ireland in their next fixture.

Senegal, Belgium and Ivory Coast pick up points

Sébastien Pocognoli also played for his country, coming on in the 77th minute before celebrating a 2-0 win in Scotland. On Saturday, both Mame Diouf and Salif Sané also enjoyed victory, seeing off Uganda 1-0 with Senegal. Diouf played 75 minutes, while Sané only came on in the last few minutes. Ivory Coast picked up a point after a 1-1 draw against Morocco. Manager Sabri Lamouchi brought on 96-striker Didier Ya Konan mid-way through the second half. Ivory Coast (14 points), Senegal (12 points) and Belgium (22) are all atop of their respective groups.
