Hannover 96 will be without Lars Stindl for their Bundesliga opener this coming Saturday, 23rd August 2014 at 15:30 CEST against FC Schalke 04 in the HDI Arena.
Lateral collateral ligament strain
The captain will be missing with a knee injury. The diagnosis was made following a check-up on Thursday afternoon. Stindl pulled the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee during the DFB Cup match against Astoria Walldorf on Saturday. Despite extensive physiotherapy, the severity of the strain and the resulting pain rules out an appearance against Schalke this weekend.
“Losing him is obviously a blow. But now we have clarity of the situation two days before the game. We will make the right decision as to who will replace Lars in the starting line-up,” explained 96-manager Tayfun Korkut.

Hannover 96 was established on 12th April 1896. In its long history, rich in tradition, the greatest successes have always come when the special bond between club and city, and between the club and its fans, was at its strongest. Because of that we have the club motto “NIEMALS ALLEIN” [‘Never Alone’]. The most glorious moments in the club’s history include winning the German championship in 1938 and 1954, as well as the Cup success of 1992. In their early days, 96 established themselves firmly in the Bundesliga. The stand out memories for the fans in recent years include the two seasons in the Europa league in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2015/16 Hannover will compete in the Bundesliga for the 14th consecutive season.
