Offensive reinforcement for Hannover 96: Shortly before the start of the new Bundesliga season, Hannover 96 signed Jimmy Briand this afternoon. His contract runs until 30th June 2015 and will wear the number 21 shirt.

Transfer from Olympique Lyon
The 1.82m tall 29-year-old, who was born on 2nd August 1985 in Vitry-sur-Seine in France, played for French top team Olympique Lyon for the past four years, and before that for Stade Rennes for eight seasons. The former Champions League participant made 110 first league appearances for Olympique Lyon and scored 22 goals. Briand has made five national team appearances for France and went through the ranks of the under-national teams.

Adjustable and versatile
“Jimmy Briand can play on the wings or in the centre,” said 96-Sporting Director Dirk Dufner. “We wanted to reinforce these positions in the squad and I’m confident that we’ve found a solution in Briand.”
“He’s bringing a lot of experience with him and after our careful observations of his prowess, we’re sure that he’ll act as a reinforcement for our team,” said 96-manager Tayfun Korkut.

Looking forward to the Bundesliga
“The Bundesliga will be a new experience for me and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m new in the league in the country of World Champions because I’ve played in French Ligue 1 for so many years. I want to settle in in Hannover as quickly as possible and really hope that we can have a successful start to the new season on Saturday against Schalke,” said Jimmy Briand.
