NIEMALSALLEIN

A 4-0 win in the final match of the season brought a successful end to an impressive term. In 2007/2008 96 set a host of new club records in the Bundesliga, something that bodes well for the future.

96 say farewell to departing players
46,632 fans provided a party atmosphere in the AWD-Arena before kick-off on Saturday. The six players departing 96 at the end of the season, Richard Golz, Frank Juric, Thomas Brdaric, Vahid Hashemian, Sören Halfar and Darius Zuraw were greeted by CEO Martin Kind and director of sport Christian Hochstätter on the pitch, and there was a special farewell for Zuraw from the fans for his seven years service at the club and his contribution to its promotion in 2002.

Records, records, records
The 4-0 victory against Energie Cottbus on the last day of the season secured 8th place in the table and laid the foundation for a real party in the AWD-Arena with the fans creating a spine-tingling atmosphere. The 8th place finish is on a par with Hannover’s second best season ever, and is the best since the inception of the 18 team format in 1965/1966. Dieter Hecking’s team not only set a new points record with 49, but attracted an average of over 40,000 fans a game – the highest since the Reds returned top flight football in 2002. The number of season tickets – 18,500 – also set a new club record, and 96 are now looking to break the 20,000 mark next year. The number of members at the club is swiftly increasing as well, with 112 people signing up on Saturday afternoon to take the total to over 9,000.

Hannover 96 say: "thank-you!"
Having already confirmed the capture of Florian Fromlowitz and Leon Balogun as well as national players Jan Schlaudraff and Mario Eggimann, the Reds have taken the first step to improving upon what has been an excellent season. Hannover 96 offer their thanks to everyone involved with the club over the 2007/2008 season – fans, officials, sponsors – and hope to continue working with you towards further success next year. And perhaps, with the five more points Dieter Hecking has promised next season, the club can start to compete in Europe…
