Hannover 96 announced on Monday that centre-back Frank Fahrenhorst will be moving to MSV Duisburg at the end of the season. The 31 year old's contract expires in the summer, and he had not been offered an extension.

Reunion with Neururer
Frank Fahrenhorst arrived in Hannover in the summer of 2006 from Werder Bremen as part of the deal that saw Per Mertesacker move in the opposite direction. The switch saw him link up with mentor Peter Neururer, Hannover's manager at the time. Since then Fahrenhorst has made 68 appearances for the Reds, scoring 5 goals. Dieter Hecking confirmed two weeks ago that his contract, which expires at the end of the season, would not be renewed.

It was then announced by MSV Duisburg on Monday that they will sign Frank Fahrenhorst on a Bosman transfer in the summer, where the centre-back will once again link up with his old boss Peter Neururer. The "Zebras" are currently in the 2nd Bundesliga, but still have an outside chance of promotion this season back to the top flight. However they will have to make up a five point gap to the play-off spot. We wish Frank Fahrenhorst all the best for next season with his new club.
