Hannover 96 have signed Portuguese midfielder Carlitos. The versatile offensive player will get a two year deal.
"He is offensively very flexible"
Hannover 96 have signed the Portuguese offensive midfielder Carlos Alberto Alves García, called "Carlitos". The 27-year-old has played for FC Basel in the past three years and scored eleven goals in 76 games. Carlitos will get a two year deal with the Reds.
"We have been watching him for a while now. He is capable of playing on both wings and has also played in a more central position before as well," said 96-sporting director Jörg Schmadtke. "Carlitos will help us offensively as he is very flexible. The transfer also fits perfectly to our financial capabilities."
"I can help the team"
Carlitos looks forward to his new challenge at Hannover: "I'm really happy to play for Hannover and in the Bundesliga and I think I can help the team." Carlos Alberto Alves Garcia will be officially presented on Tuesday and will wear the shirt with the number 12.

Hannover 96 was established on 12th April 1896. In its long history, rich in tradition, the greatest successes have always come when the special bond between club and city, and between the club and its fans, was at its strongest. Because of that we have the club motto “NIEMALS ALLEIN” [‘Never Alone’]. The most glorious moments in the club’s history include winning the German championship in 1938 and 1954, as well as the Cup success of 1992. In their early days, 96 established themselves firmly in the Bundesliga. The stand out memories for the fans in recent years include the two seasons in the Europa league in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2015/16 Hannover will compete in the Bundesliga for the 14th consecutive season.
