New signing Carlitos was successfully operated on today. He ruptured his cruciate ligament in the first minute of the Bundesliga opening day game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Operation a success
It was devestating news on Saturday when it was revealed that Carlitos had ruptured his cruciate ligament.
Our new attacking midfielder is set to miss five months after his injury that struck just 30 seconds into the game.
It has been decided that, following the operation that took place in Hannover instead of in Portugal with the Portuguese national doctor, Carlitos’ rehabilitation period will also begin in Germany. “With him at the club we will be able to follow his recuperation more successfully”, explained head coach Slomka.

Hannover 96 was established on 12th April 1896. In its long history, rich in tradition, the greatest successes have always come when the special bond between club and city, and between the club and its fans, was at its strongest. Because of that we have the club motto “NIEMALS ALLEIN” [‘Never Alone’]. The most glorious moments in the club’s history include winning the German championship in 1938 and 1954, as well as the Cup success of 1992. In their early days, 96 established themselves firmly in the Bundesliga. The stand out memories for the fans in recent years include the two seasons in the Europa league in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2015/16 Hannover will compete in the Bundesliga for the 14th consecutive season.
