Shortly before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday, Hannover 96 strengthened its squad by finalising a dealt to sign Austrian midfielder Daniel Royer. Royer, who has also appeared for the Austrian senior side, joins the reds from Austrian First Division side SV Ried and has signed a four-year contract.

Royer is currently in the Austria squad to face Germany in Gelsenkirchen for Friday’s Euro 2012 qualifier. “He is two-footed and can be used on both wings because of his speed. We’re pleased that a young player of his talent has chosen to join us”, said Jörg Schmädtke, 96 Chairman.

No. 16

Daniel will receive the squad number 16 and is eligible to play in the Bundesliga or German Cup immediately. However, he is cup-tied until January in the Europa League, since he has already appeared in the competition for SV Ried this season, in a play-off against PSV Eindhoven. He will join up with the Reds squad next week after returning from international duty. Austria play Germany in Gelsenkirchen and then Turkey in Vienna on Tuesday, September 6th.
