NIEMALSALLEIN

Congratulations, Ron-Robert! The 96-goalkeeper has brought the World Cup back from Brazil with the Germany national team and celebrates the title win with a first: Zieler is the first World Cup winner from the Reds!

“World Champion – an awesome feeling!”
The 96-manager said last week, “I hope that Ron-Robert returns as a World Champion!” His wish has been fulfilled. After Germany’s 1-0 win over Argentina, Hannover’s no. 1 returned from Brazil carrying the trophy aloft with his teammates. “World Champion – an awesome feeling!” posted the 96-keeper on his Facebook page.

The journey to the final
Zieler had been working with the DFB team for four weeks up to the final. After the group stage victory, manager Joachim Löw’s team eliminated the other competition and finally defeated the ‘Albiceleste’ in a gripping final that saw Mario Götze’s dream goal clinch the title for Germany in extra time.

Ron-Robert Zieler and his team had everything to celebrate after winning the World Cup.

Zieler celebrates 2011 debut for national team
The World Cup was always an aim for the 25-year-old. After Zieler had progressed through every DFB youth team from the U16s, he was called up to the first team for the first time in summer 2011. On 11th November in the same year, he made his goalkeeping debut in a 3-3 draw against Ukraine. Zieler has made four appearances for the national team so far. The born Kölner has done everything possible in the last three years to make sure he was selected for Brazil 2014, and with success. At the end of the final, Zieler was ranked at number 3 in the German goalkeeper rankings, and with the golden trophy in hand, is the Red’s first World Cup champion!

Korkut: “We are incredibly delighted”
The goalie couldn’t be happier, and this also goes for his team. 96-president Martin Kind described the feeling, “We couldn’t be more proud of our team. It was a fantastic, high class final – and a fantastic goal from Mario Götze. Korkut also praised Jogi’s boys, “The best team earned the title. Congratulations to the player, as well as Joachim Löw and the whole team. We are incredibly delighted that our goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler was a part of the winning team.” Löw’s achievement reflects well on Korkut, as the 40-year-old can now say he has played under three World Cup winning managers, the other two being Vicente del Bosque and Carlos Alberto Parreira.

Zieler joins training camp
After an unforgettable time in Brazil and a long season for the national player, the newly crowned World Champion will first of all have a well earned holiday. Zieler will finally travel to the Red’s training camp in Austria at the end of the month.
