Adrian Nikci has been diagnosed with meningitis and will be in hospital for around a week.

Withdrawn from squad for HSV match

Adrian Nikci was admitted to hospital on Sunday after earlier being diagnosed with meningitis. The 96-midfielder had complained of cold-like symptoms on Saturday morning and was withdrawn from the squad for the match against Hamburger SV. Nikci was isolated from the team and given internal treatment in Hannover. His condition worsened overnight and he had developed a fever by Sunday morning, so he was taken to hospital for an examination. The doctors diagnosed Adrian Nikci with meningitis and he must stay remain admitted for around a week.

“We hope Adrian has a quick recovery. He’s in good hands with his doctors and hopefully he’ll be able to leave the hospital in a few days“, explained Jörg Schmadtke, Hannover 96’s sporting director.
