“Schulle” back on national service
Christian Schulz’s participation in the DFB XI’s 2-2 game against Denmark had numerous parallels to the last time he pulled on the national shirt. In February 2005, as with last night, the game ended 2-2 – that time against Argentina. “Schulle” also played just a handful of minutes in that game, too. Just as he did this time against Denmark. Despite this he was satisfied with his cameo performance. National trainer Joachim Löw brought him on for the injured Jerome Boateng twelve minutes from the game’s conclusion.
Eggimann victorious against Pogatetz
The game in which Hannover pair Emanuel Pogatetz and Mario Eggimann came up against each other was Austria against Switzerland – and it was Eggimann’s Switzerland who came out on top, 1:0 courtesy of a Constanzo headed in the 73rd minute. While Pogatetz was given the full 90 minutes, Eggimann was brougbt onto the field for the second half.
Finn Mikael Forssell finally made his return to the national team. The 96er provided the cross that led to the game’s only goal, scored by Porokara. Karim Haggui was also in action, his Tunisia team victorious 3:1 against Chad in an Africa Cup Qualifier.
"Steve", "Djappi" and Ya Konan sat out
Steven Cherundolo was unfortunately not able to add to his international caps. TheAmerican sat on the bench for their 0:2 defeat against Brazil. Didier Ya Konan and Constant Djakpa, due to problems with their visas, missed the Ivory Coast’s game against Italy. Despite missing both players, their team churned out a 1:0 victory.
