Kind and Schmadtke satisfied
“We’re delighted that Mirko Slomka has agreed to continue working our team to make them even more successful than they already are”, stated 96-president Martin Kind. “He’s achieved an unprecedented amount of success at this club, firstly keeping us in the Bundesliga last season and then taking us to new heights this season with our best ever start to a campaign.”
Sporting director Jörg Schmadtke was also pleased to hear the good news. “The negotiations took a little longer than we would’ve hoped, but with this agreement we now have the foundations in place to create a constructive and successful future for Hannover 96. We both want the same things for our club.”
“An incredibly appealing job”
Mirko Slomka made it clear how excited he was about continuing his work with Hannover 96 following the lengthy discussions: “It’s understandable that people on the outside won’t have understood why it took so long to reach an agreement, but I am, and will continue to be, 100% committed to this club. It’s a lot of fun working here, the support is unerring and the team has taken come leaps and bounds since I took over. I want to play an active role in the developing this club further and the fact that the task at hand is so close to home for me it makes it an incredibly appealing job. Especially because of the fans and spectators who get behind the team week in, week out.”
Mirko Slomka has been the manager of Hannover 96 since January 2010. He previously spent time at Schalke 04 between 2006 and 2008 where he led his team to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup (2006), second place in the Bundesliga (2007) and most notably the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League (2008).
