NIEMALSALLEIN

Good news for all 96 fans - the long wait has ended. Striker Mame Diouf has returned, without issue, to first team training after five months of injury. Whether or not he will be in the squad for the Nürnberg game on Wednesday night will be decided by 96 manager Mirko Slomka after training today.

Diouf has no trouble getting stuck in

During the 2-0 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the 30th game of last season, Diouf broke part of his syndesmosis and tore part of his ligament in his left ankle. The striker underwent an operation at Basel University Hospital.

With rehabilitation and individual training, the Senegalese star has battled back and is now ready to start scoring for 96 again. The striker, who scored six in ten Bundesliga games and four in five Europa League games last year, was heavily involved in training and had no trouble getting stuck in. There is hope that he will return to first team action soon.

Whether or not it will be enough for the Nürnberg match will be decided by 96 manager Mirko Slomka after training today.
