Debut of two new 96ers
In front of 2,112 spectators in the August-Wenzel-Stadion in Barsinghausen, 96-manager Tayfun Korkut initially put Samuel Radlinger in goal. Making their first appearances for Hannover 96 was striker Joselu and right back Maurice Hirsch.
Early goal for opposition
After five minutes of play, the reds showed their determination to win their first firendly against the Oberliga side. Captain Lars Stindl penetrated through to the penalty box, but was five yards off target. In the following minutes, the concentration of Hannover slipped and Egestorf/Langreder stepped up their counter attack – with great success. In the twelfth minute, Sebastian Baar managed to lob the ball over 96-keeper Samuel Radlinger for a surprising 1-0 lead.
New signing Vladimir Rankovic takes on three opponents
First game, first goal
Korkut’s team had to up their game until they regained composure. The travelling Hannover fans had something to celebrate in the 25th minute when new signing Joselu equalised with a volley, which was assisted by Marcelo's header. “After his back injury, it was important that he could play injury-free for 45 minutes,” said Korkut, his pleased manager. Edgar Prob increased the score with his goal in the 32nd minute. Valmir Sulejmani made a strong run on the left and managed to pass the ball into Prib’s path, who was positioned to score. However, it was once again Joselu who was on hand to finish the job to make the score 3-1 at half time. “It is always very important for a striker to be there,” commented Korkut on the impressive debut of his striker.
New faces in the second half
After half time, the 96ers made ten changes to the team. The new players started with the same vigour as the previous eleven had done in the first half. After great play from Artur Sobiech, Leonardo Bittencourt shot at goal and the ball went into the back of the net. However, referee Schröder decided that a foul was committed, so the goal did not count. The fourth goal came from a great cross from Szabolcs Huszti, who found Kenan Karaman in the middle. The referee penalised Felipe on the counter attack for committing a foul. It was not only the 96-manager who thought that it was “an unfair red card”. However, even after the sending off, the reds were the dominant team. While Sobiech failed to score against the opposition’s goalkeeper, Bittencourt capitalised on goalkeeping error to make the final score 5-1.
Thank you to the spectators, as all proceeds from the match are going to the Robert-Enke-Stiftung, totalling at around €30,000.
