Hannover 96 won their friendly against HSC BW Schwalbe Tündern 8-0. Man of the Match Kenan Karaman scored five times. The other goals were scored by Briand (2) and Sulejmani, who scored a wonder goal.

Dominant from the first minute
Manager Tayfun Korkut had to do without six international players and therefore the starting line-up was completely different to the one that started in Mainz. Hiroshi Kiyotake and Christian Pander were the only two players to retain their places in the starting eleven. As expected, 96 started offensively and dictated the play from the off. The first chance of the game fell to new signing Jimmy Briand. In the 6th minute, he hammered the ball against the bar from a tight angle. Chances two and three also came as a result of some good combination play from the team. Both were set-up by our immaculate Japanese player, Kiyotake. Firstly, in the twelfth minute, he linked up with Jan Schlaudraff, who put the ball into the back of the net. No less than five minutes later, he crossed in from the right, but Briand just missed the target. However, Tündern had the chance to take the lead after the Briand chance when they had a counter-attack, but Beckmann and Kramer squandered the opportunity.

Karaman - a hat-trick in only 13 minutes
It all came to fruition in the 26th minute. Full-back Vladimir Rankovic played the ball from the right corner of the box into the path of Kenan Karaman, who struck the ball perfectly into the back of the net after lovely build-up play. Moments later, Karaman was at it again. After good work from Schlaudraff, he beat Tündern’s keeper Sebastian Kelle, leaving him with no chance. But the Karaman-show was not over just yet. Our number 26 latched onto a misplaced pass from one of the opposition, beared down on Kelle and finished nicely into the far corner.

Here is Man of the Match Kenan Karaman making it 3-0

Hannover showed their class
After half time, Schulz, Thesker and Marcelo came on for the Reds, with the hosts also making changes. However, one thing didn’t alter after the substitutions- the hunger for goals of Kenan Karaman, who ended up grabbing the fourth as well. Stefan Thesker, who had just been brought on, crossed perfectly for Karaman, who only needed to get his head on the ball and it found the net. If anything could have topped off his game, then it was definitely Valmir Sulejmani’s goal to make it 5-0, who had just come on for Rankovic. The youngster composed himself from 25 yards and fired the ball into the top left-hand corner.

First goal for 96
Jimmy Briand scored his first two goals for his new club today. In the 69th minute he linked up with the superb Sulejmani and the Frenchman was able to finish from close range in order to make the score 6-0. At the same time, our new signing wanted to play well right up to the final whistle. Two minutes before the 90 minutes were up, he finished a through ball from Christian Schulz with the outside of his boot. Shortly before, Kenan Karaman topped off his performance with his fifth goal of the game. Manuel Schmiedebach chipped the ball into the box, where Karaman brought the ball down with his chest. He then turned on a sixpence and scored to make it 7-0.

Tayfun Korkut:
“It was a good test for us and I’m happy with the result. We scored a few nice goals, in actual fact I’m happy with everything in that area. Many thanks to both our hosts VGH and to our opponents for the game.”
