VfB Stuttgart midfielder Moritz Leitner spoke to hannover96.de about his club’s current situation, the crowd’s support and his mate Leonardo Bittencourt.

Moritz Leitner, VfB Stuttgart and Hannover 96 are both still waiting for a win in 2015 and want to use the opportunity to finally collect three points on matchday 23. What are you expectations for the game?

Leitner:
It won’t be an easy one for us. Hannover are difficult to beat at home and we haven't done too well recently. Nevertheless, we’re confident that we can achieve a good result.

You celebrated your first win of the season in the last encounter. What do you think is in store for you on this visit to the HDI Arena?

Leitner:
We want build on the things that went well in the last couple of games and play with courage and passion. If we manage to work together as a team, we’ve got the opportunity to pick up at least a point or perhaps more.

The fans are still behind you despite the difficult situation. How important is that for your team?

Leitner:
Our fans know what to make of our current situation and showed that during the last home game. It’s great that they’re still supporting us. Hopefully, that will give us a push to collect the necessary points to avoid relegation.

You’re about to make your 43rd appearance in a VfB shirt. How do you see your development during your year and a half with Stuttgart?

Leitner:
It’s not about personal development at the moment, but about the entire club’s situation. We want to stay in the league and will do everything to make it happen.

You’ll also face Leonardo Bittencourt who is a good friend of yours and your teammate on the Under-21 national team. Have you discussed the game with him?

Leitner: We chat every once in awhile, but we haven’t discussed the upcoming game. I’m looking forward to seeing him and his “babyface” on the pitch (laughs).
