96’s captain has today informed the club that he will be leaving at the end of the season. He is moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach for an undisclosed fee.

Stindl: "I’ll give everything in the remaining games"

The 26-year-old moved from Karlsruher SC to Hannover 96 in summer 2010 and succeeded Steven Cherundolo as team captain last summer. Stindl twice secured a UEFA Europa League qualifying spot with 96.

"Hannover 96 made Lars a very good offer, but we respect his decision to move on in summer. He is one of the most coveted players in the Bundesliga," explained 96 sporting director Dirk Dufner. "For us, there is no doubt that Lars will continue to put in the best performances possible for his remaining games in a 96 shirt.
He is a top professional with an impeccable character."

"Now that I’ve made my decision, I wanted to announce it without delay and be open and honest," said Lars Stindl on Wednesday. "I will give all that I’ve got in the remaining games to help secure Hannover’s position in the Bundesliga for next season. I have chosen to take the next step in my career, but until the end of the season I’m fully focused on giving the best performances possible so Hannover remain in the top division."
