The German Football Association (DFB) has decided to give defender Karim Haggui a two match ban following his straight red card against FC St. Pauli on Friday night.

Karim to miss matches against Bayern and Köln

The defender presented himself before a tribunal for the German Football Association (DFB) on Monday when the DFB Regulation Commitee decided upon a two match suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct. The ban applies to all Hannover matches and means that the Algerian international is set to miss the trip to face FC Bayern München in the Allianz Arena, as well as 1. FC Köln's visit to the AWD-Arena.

Haggui received a stright red card from referee Markus Wingenbach after a professional foul on Mathias Lehmann in the 80th minute of the 0:1 loss against FC St. Pauli. With the match in the balance at that point and Hannover pushing for a goal, St. Pauli were able to break on the counter attack as Lehmann broke free of the Hannover defence. Haggui then brought the Pauli midfielder down just outside the box with an untidy challenge and as the last man was given his marching orders.

Karim and Hannover 96 both agreed with the decision and decided not to appeal.
