Injury plagued Christopher Avevor has had another setback in his bid for full fitness having broken a bone in his right foot during training that will require him to have an operation.

Avevor, the unlucky one once again

Things were just starting to look up for the Reds youngster. Having been called up to the German U-19 team that travelled to Chesterfield to take on their English counterparts, he was involved in a match that saw Germany emerge victorious with a 1-0 win. He managed to come through the friendly encounter unscathed and was getting ready to celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday. Unfortunately, he couldn’t boast the same thing following Thursday morning’s training session at the Reds training centre after he broke a metatarsal in his right foot. It means that the youngsters bad luck continues as the 96-team doctor confirmed that he would undergo an operation almost immediately to try an mend the damage.

We send our condolences to Christopher Avevor for this unfortunate injury and wish him all the best on his, hopefully speedy, road to recovery.
