Lucky “Didi”
There were literally millimetres that decided whether the striker would be set for a short or long period on the sidelines. The man who made the tackle was Garra Dembele who chopped 96’s prolific scorer down at the legs and meant that Ya Konan’s game was cut short in the 43rd minute. A few millimetres left or right of where the contact was made and it could have seen the Ivorian ruled out for the rest of the season in what would have been a hammer blow to Hannover 96’s season. Having already had an operation on a similar injury, in a similar area, there was a lot of concern regarding the ligaments that surround the knee and run down the tibia. The operation in December was on the outer meniscus in his right leg and the Reds will be relieved to hear he hasn’t re-aggravated the affected area. All in all bruising on the shinbone isn’t anywhere near as bad as it could have been.
The next few days are crucial for the 26-year old as he receives intense medical attention in an attempt to try and get him ready for the Northern Derby against SV Werder Bremen on Sunday. Chances are good that he will recover in time although he may not be 100% fit for the encounter.
We send our best wishes to “Didi” and wish him all the best as he tries to be ready for this weekend.
